Progress in Microbes and Molecular Biology (PMMB), in association with the Asia Pacific Microbiome & Biomedical Research Network (AMBeR), is honoured to announce the recipient of the Lee Yong Guan (LYG) Bright Scientist Award 2026.
Following a rigorous evaluation of the applications received, the selection committee is delighted to confer this year's award upon Associate Professor Dr Wu Yuan Seng.
The LYG Bright Scientist Award recognises and celebrates outstanding contributions to Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Biomedical Sciences. It is therefore dedicated to supporting exceptional scientists whose work advances knowledge and benefits the wider community. Dr Wu's research, spanning cancer research, natural product drug discovery and antiviral therapeutics, embodies this philosophy, exemplifying the scientific innovation, tangible research impact and promise of continued advancement that the Award seeks to honour.
As the award recipient, Dr Wu will receive a USD 500 cash honorarium, a 100% article processing charge (APC) waiver for a future submission to PMMB, and a formal certificate of achievement.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all applicants who submitted their nominations and shared their research achievements. The Award Committee is deeply grateful for the interest and participation received, which reflect the dedication and contributions of researchers across Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Biomedical Sciences. We strongly encourage eligible researchers to continue pursuing their work and to participate in future editions of the Award.
Our heartfelt congratulations to Dr Wu on this well-deserved recognition. We wish him continued success in his scientific endeavours and look forward to the contributions he will make to the wider research community.
